Paiute ATV Trail - Marysvale, Utah
Paiute ATV Trail - Marysvale, Utah
The Pauite ATV Trail usually begins in Marysvale for riders that want to tackle the 275 miles long loop trail. There actually isn't a beginning or an end of this trail, you can start wherever you want but Marysvale is a good place to begin. The trail runs through several towns as well as having side trails running into the main trail. You will agree that this is one of the top ATV trails in the country when you have completed the ride.
The trail covers old roads and trails that cross the Fishlake National Forest with intervening BKM-administered land. There are over 1000 miles of marked side trails and 1500+ estimated miles of side forest roads and trails for you to enjoy when you break off from the 275 miles of the main trail. You probably won't be able to enjoy the whole thing on one trip but that means that you can come back time and again and see new things and new scenery.
The trails are 4 ft wide which allows for a great ride while providing a ride that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Take the time to see the scenery and atmosphere of a deeply dense forest. You can also enjoy spending some time camping near the path, fishing in the streams and seeing the beautiful panoramic scene along the way. There are some areas where you will see over hundred miles in the distance (and 11,000 ft below). This is a great place to grab some stunning pictures. You will probably see free-roaming herds of deer or elk while you ride in this area.
This is a trail that you can complete in 25 hours if you ride hard, but why, when you can take a few days and enjoy being in the beauty of nature. Now, the 25 hours would just get you the 275 mile main trail at a hurried speed, that doesn't take into consideration the thousands of miles of marked and unmarked side forest roads and trails that wait for you to explore. This is why you will want to come back time and again.
You can ride the trails in the spring but you will be only able to go on the lower trails since snow will block the upper trails over the Pahvants and Sevier Plateau until early July. September and October are some of the best months to ride the Paiute trail. The weather is really great this time of year. The trees will be in full color, the days are brisk and the nights cool with little chance of precipitation. If you want to ride the high country you will truly enjoy August, although keep in mind that at this time of year the lower trails will be hot!
After October, storms may close the upper portions of the trail or make riding slightly unpleasant but not impossible.
Get out there and enjoy the country, it's a beautiful way to spend your Utah vacation!
