A trip to the Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry leaves you and your whole family with lasting memories.
While there are many theories, we don’t know what caused so many fossils to be deposited in one spot more than 147 million years ago. More than 12,000 individual bones, and one fossilized dinosaur egg, have already been recovered from this productive site. It’s estimated that at least 70 different animals are represented among these fossils. Archeologists haven’t even come close to reassembling all these bones, but there are complete Allosaur and Stegosaur skeletal reconstructions to view in the Visitor’s Center. Get ready to crane your necks!
Start your visit to Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry in the new Visitor’s Center, which has many new exhibits and a wealth of information. Then, move on to the quarry tour. The quarry tour takes you on a fascinating trip through a real, working archeological dig, complete with dust and cranes.
Giant boulders are scattered everywhere throughout the park, so you have plenty of shade when you break open your family picnic. It’s a one-of-a-kind atmosphere you won’t find anywhere else. The Rock Walk Nature Trail winds past so many sights you’ll have a hard time keeping track of the kids. Don’t forget to read the signs along the way, to learn about the spectacular history that’s been unearthed already, and all the history still waiting in the ground.
